Matcha Matrix (“we,” “us”) runs matchamatrix.co, a small independent site that ranks matcha and links out to where you can buy it. This policy explains, in plain terms, what information we collect and how we use it. We try to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
- Your email — only if you join our mailing list or ask to save your taste-quiz results. We use it to send occasional matcha emails and nothing else.
- Reviews you submit — if you leave a review, we collect the name/handle and text you enter, so we can moderate it and (if approved) display it. Don't include personal details you don't want shown.
- Usage analytics — we use PostHog to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, which cards and quiz answers are popular, which links are tapped). This is pseudonymous behavioral data, not tied to your name.
- Affiliate attribution — when you tap a “Check price” link, the destination store (e.g., Amazon or a brand) may set its own cookie to credit us for a resulting sale, at no extra cost to you.
We do not collect payment information, and we never see what you buy — purchases happen entirely on the retailer's site under their policies.
How we use it
- To send you matcha emails you asked for (new picks, restocks, your matches).
- To moderate and display reviews.
- To improve the rankings, the quiz, and the site.
- To earn affiliate commissions that keep the site running.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that make the site work:
- Email provider (e.g., Formspree/Buttondown-style service) — stores the mailing list and review submissions.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Affiliate programs — Amazon Associates and individual brand programs, for sale attribution.
Cookies
We use cookies/local storage for analytics and for affiliate attribution on the retailer's side. Your browser also stores small preferences locally (like light/dark mode). You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; some features may work less smoothly.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email.
- Access or delete the data we hold about you — just ask (see below).
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the GDPR or CCPA; we'll honor valid requests.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll change the date at the top when we do.
